Welcome to the website of Tararua Allbreeds Dog Training Club, the home of domestic and competition obedience training for dog owners in Palmerston North and surrounding areas.
You can start obedience classes as soon as your puppy has had her or his vaccinations, and dogs of any age are welcome. If you are new to dog training, have a look around the ‘Newcomers‘ page for more information. Click here for our Tararua Training Options Brochure.
We run a variety of obedience classes for dogs and owners at different levels, which build upon each other and gradually teach you how to have a well behaved dog. There are four terms per year (they fit with school terms), each of nine weeks duration. You can find out more about the training options and how the courses fit together on the ‘Classes‘ page. Details about the next training term are on the ‘Calendar‘ page.
Instruction is done by members of the club on a voluntary basis. Training fees cover the costs of running the club and classes. The club members who teach know what they’re doing, as they compete with their own dogs in Obedience, Agility, Working Trials, Sledding, Conformation and Paws ‘N Music competitions.
